

New Iberia – Funeral services will be celebrated for Floyd Joseph Albert, age 79, at 10:30 am, Monday, October 27, 2014 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Rev. Roland Fontenot will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Rosary being recited at 6:30 pm and Masonic Rights at 7:00 pm by Masonic Lodge Aurora 193 F & AM. The funeral home will reopen on Monday from 8:00 am until time of services.
Floyd was born August 2, 1935 in Loreauville to the late Valery Albert and Edna Verrett Albert, and passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Iberia Extended Care Hospital, with his family at his side.
Floyd was a lifelong Oilfield Salesman and worked with Brown Oil Tools, Homco Inc. and various other companies in the area. Outside of his work, he and his wife loved to travel, whether visiting Hawaii or snow skiing in Colorado. Floyd was also a boxer and a past member of the Golden Gloves in New Iberia, and a member of Masonic Lodge Aurora 193 F & AM.
He leaves behind many fond memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Shirley G. Albert; his daughter, Glenda Albert; nieces, Vickie Broussard Husbands and Cindy Broussard Herring; and nephews, Charlie Williams and Ralph Raymond Broussard, Jr.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Becky Lynn Albert; father and mother-in-law, W.G. Green and Anna Theresa Keating Green; and a half-brother, Ralph Raymond Broussard, Sr.
Serving as pallbearers will be Don Husbands, Larry Verret, Victor Verret, Charlie Williams, Chuck Williams, and Barry Guillotte.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Albert’s name to the American Heart Association, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
