

RYNELLA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for George Joseph Peltier, Sr., age 81, at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at St. Marcellus Catholic Church. Fr. Gene Tremie will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Marcellus Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Men’s Rosary Group leading the Recitation of the Rosary. Visiting hours will resume on Tuesday from 8:00 am until 10:30 am.
George Joseph Peltier, Sr. was born July 4, 1933 on Weeks Island to the late Henry Peltier, Sr. and Azilda Lopez Peltier Trimm; and passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at his residence in Carencro.
George was a lifelong Insurance Representative and retired with Evangeline Life Insurance Company. He had a passion for music and was an accomplished pianist and drummer, as well as being able to play many more instruments. He played with several bands, but also donated his time and talents by playing music for residents of area nursing homes, something that brought him great joy. With his love of music, was also a love for dancing, which he and Therese did often. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife Therese Theriot Picard Peltier of Carencro; his ten children, Linda Kropp of Washington, Christy Peltier Dewey (Larry) of Tampa, FL, George J. Peltier, II of Broussard, Theresa Kremer (Kenny) of Minot, ND, Janis Lassere (Scotty) of Carencro, Mary Manual of Lafayette, Lisa Peltier of Carencro, Jane Peltier Johnson of Missouri, Richard Peltier (Sandra) of Morganza, Bridget Peltier of Carencro; 21 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; six step-children, Gene Picard (Cynthia Talley) of New Iberia, Vernon Picard (Kate) of Lafayette, Clay Picard (Vonnie) of Rayne, Cindy Picard Meyers (Armand, Jr.) of New Iberia, Glen Picard (Kim) of Baton Rouge, Julie Picard Briley (Brian) of Opelousas; 13 step-grandchildren; 15 step-great grandchildren; his brother and sister, Henry Peltier, Jr. (Barbara) and Jolin Arcement all of New Iberia; and his beloved min-pin, Annie.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by wife of first marriage, Ethel Watkins Peltier; his grandchildren, Brittney and Dusty Manuel; step-daughter, Ellen Picard Hebert; and his brother and sister, Allen Peltier and Linda Peltier Romero.
Serving as pallbearers are George Peltier II, Richard Peltier, Kyle Lebourgeois, Alan Chasteen, Vernon Picard, Glen Picard, Steven Johnson, Margen Martin and Jessie Ransonet. Henry Peltier, Jr. will serve as honorary pallbearer.
