

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Keith C. Hotard, Sr., the former Georgine Carrere, at 2:00 pm Monday, September 23, 2013 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Fr. Charles Langlois will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Beau Pre Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 10:00 until 1:40 pm, with the Rosary at 11:30 am led by Deacon Roland Jeanlouis.
Georgine was born to the late Louis P. Carrere and Gertrude Grabert Carrere. She passed away peacefully with her family at her side on September 18, 2013, just one day before she would have celebrated her 90th birthday.
Georgine, known by many as Gene, was a native of New Orleans, a longtime resident of Kenner, and a current resident of New Iberia. She was a 1942 graduate of St. Maurice High School in New Orleans, and attended the Sophie B. Newcombe College for two years. She worked with the Internal Revenue Service as an auditor for over 25 years. Gene was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Kenner, where she served on the St. Joseph Altar Committee making dozens of cookies each year. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Keith Charles Hotard, Jr. and wife Deborah Thomas Hotard of The Woodlands, TX, and Karen Hotard Briganti and husband Frank J. Briganti, Sr.; five grandchildren, Rachel Hotard and fiancé Joel Burton, David Hotard and Fiancee Sunny Brewer, Frank J. Briganti, Jr., Alicia Briganti Causey and husband Trey, and Tricia Briganti Kelehan and husband Christopher.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Keith Charles Hotard, Sr.; her step-mother, Louise C. Carrerre; and a sister and brother, Hazel Sturgeon and Louis J. Carrere.
Pallbearers will be members of the family and friends.
The family wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to the administration and staff of Garden View Assisted Living, especially the caring RA’s for the excellent care and assistance our dear mother received. They would also like to extend this thank you to her nurse, Desiree; the call nurses, Angela and Blair, and to Robert, Jody, and Daviashia all with Amedisys Hospice. A very special thank you is extended to Darlene and Priscilla with Allcare Professional Solutions for the support and comfort received from them.
