Gerald "Pop" Wayne Watterson

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Gerald Wayne Watterson, age 79, at 1:00 pm Friday, February 13, 2015 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Rev. Zack Mitchell officiating. Interment will be held privately at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Thursday. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Friday until service time.

A native of Broken Bow, OK and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Watterson passed away at 4:17 pm on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Watterson was affectionately known as Pop. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing and repairing lawnmowers. He had a wonderful collection of wheat pennies and also enjoyed watching wrestling.

Mr. Watterson is survived by two sons, Jimmy Watterson and wife Jackie of Delaware, NJ and Rocky Watterson and wife Marty of New Iberia; five daughters, Debra Owens and husband Jessie; Patricia Bourgeois and husband Jimmy and Donna Watterson and Fiancé Kerry Migues all of New Iberia; Deana Watterson of San Diego, CA and Rita Pellerin and husband Joey of Breaux Bridge; twelve grandchildren, Jana Trahan; Kayla Watterson, Jeremy Watterson, Tina Owens, Olivia Owens, Anna Owens, Steven Viator, Krystal Watterson, Kenny Watterson, Tonia Watterson, Amy Kinsey and Colby Copell and fifteen great grandchildren.

He is also survived by one sister, Patsy Brown and five brothers, Jackie Reagan, Butch Reagan, Grady Matthews, Thomas Matthews and Pete Watterson.

Mr. Watterson was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Sweat Watterson; Parents, Aubrey and Patsy Swan Watterson and one brother, J.W. Reagan.
