Mr. Larry J. Duplantis

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Larry J. Duplantis, age 49, at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Fr. Barry Crochet will be the celebrant. Interment will be follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm, with the Rosary being prayed at 7:00 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Tuesday from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm.

Larry was born February 9, 1965 in New Iberia to Joseph “AJ” Duplantis and the late Sylvia Toutcheque Duplantis, and passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014 at his residence.

Larry was a lifelong worker in the oilfield. He loved fishing, being outdoors, and working around the house. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. The times he shared and memories made will forever be kept in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Christine Lopez Duplantis of New Iberia; his daughter, Victoria Marie Duplantis of New Iberia; his father, Joseph “AJ’ Duplantis of New Iberia; one brother, Wiley Duplantis; his in laws, Lester and Cynthia B. Lopez of New Iberia; his godchildren, Nicole Landry and Joely Toucheque; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia Toutcheque Duplantis; and his maternal grandparents, John and Mabel Toucheque.

Pallbearers will be Wiley Duplantis, Dylon Bertrand, Dean Toucheque, Alvin Toucheque, Jr., David Moneaux and Gregg Hebert.

Honorary pallbearers will be “AJ’ Duplantis, Alvin Toucheque, Sr., Lester J. Lopez, David Judice and Arthur Thibodeaux, Jr.
