

NEW IBERIA – Funeral services will be celebrated for Robert G. “Boom Boom” Prince, age 69, at 2:00 pm Monday, May 5, 2014 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Bro. Paul Fontenot will officiate. Robert will be laid to rest in the Pentacostal Cemetery in Cypremort Point.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm.
Robert was born February 12, 1945 in Louisa to the late Galen Prince and Inez Landry Prince, and passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Robert, known by family and friends as “Boom Boom,” received his nickname because of his job working with explosives at the Cote Blanche Salt Mine. After he left the mine, he worked until his retirement with Twin Brothers Marine.
He had a love for crabbing, hunting, and alligator hunting. But his favorite pastime was going to the horse races and casino. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Lege Prince of New Iberia; his children, Craig Creighton of Cade and Doris Lege of New Iberia; six grandchildren, Bryce Louviere and Brennon and Braydon Creighton, Kendra, Jaila and Nevaeh Lege; his sister, Dianne P. Carlos of Thibodaux; and his brothers, Francis Prince and wife Brenda of Mississippi, and Norbert Prince, Sr. and wife Hazel of Jeanerette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gaylen Prince, Jr. and Harold Prince; and a brother-in-law, Maurice P. Carlos.
Serving as pallbearers will be Craig Creighton, Norbert Prince, Sr., Norbert Prince, Jr., Mike Carlos, Jacob Prince and Francis Prince. Honorary pallbearers will be Ross Olivier, Daniel Prince, Rodney Foco and Chad Carlos.
