Rogers Paul Guidry Jr., affectionately known as Paul, passed away at the age of 56 on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, in New Iberia, Louisiana. A kind and generous man, Paul lived an eventful life, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Paul was a proud and dedicated member of the VFW Auxiliary District 4, where he enjoyed volunteering his time and showing his patriotism. His passion for genealogy led him to spend countless hours researching family history, always eager to trace the roots of his loved ones. Paul also enjoyed spending time with his dart team, "One on Everything," at Bricks. He also had a passion for collecting old currency.
An avid outdoorsman, Paul was passionate about hunting and fishing. He spent many hours hunting deer, hogs, and squirrels, and never missed an opportunity to take his boat out fishing. Paul’s love for fishing extended so far that he would often joke about fishing anywhere, even in the family’s fish tank! His other interests included playing classic video games, where he found joy and nostalgia in the games of his youth.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Christine Benoit Guidry; his daughter, Michelle Guidry; his son, Michael Guidry; his mother, Linda Thibodeaux Watters; his step-mother, Charlene Guidry; his brother, Chris Guidry; his nephew, Christopher Guidry; his niece, Holli Guidry; and his cherished grandchildren, Issabella Romero and Haisley Guidry.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rogers Paul Guidry Sr., and his step-father, Jim Watters.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Evangeline Funeral Home, with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home at 11:00 AM that same day. Paul will be laid to rest privately at a later date.
Paul’s warmth, generosity, and love for his family and community will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
