A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Roy Joseph Picard on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Fr. Anselm Ofodum will officiate. Roy will be laid to rest at Holy Family Cemetery following the Mass.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm at Evangeline Funeral Home.
Roy was born on January 1, 1959 in St. Martin Parish to the late Marcelin and Theresa Theriot Picard. He passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at his residence at the age of 64.
A devoted caregiver throughout his life, Roy took care of his elderly parents from a young age, and later in life he extended that care to his mother-in-law and his grandchildren. Known for his sense of humor, he was a jokester who brought joy to his family with his laughter-inducing antics. His interests included gardening, yard work, raising chickens, ducks and sheep. He had a passion for cooking and took delight in preparing BBQ, and boiled crawfish for his family. Roy was very fond of animals, especially his dogs that have gone before him, Leo and Babe. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Tammy Touchet Picard, his children, Bryan Roy Picard, Jennifer P. Simon and Gavin and Amy Francis Picard; grandchildren, Noah Michael Richard, Chloe Electa Richard, Amari Leron Simon and Kai Leron Simon; one brother, Willis Picard and three sisters, Donna Champagne, Pauline Picard and companion Tan Sonnier and Rita Baudoin and husband Austin.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Marcel Picard and Clovis Picard and two sisters, Octavia Bergeron and Celia Picard.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Willis Picard, Henry Champagne, Jr., Gavin Simon, Noah Richard, Amari Simon and Adam Disch. Bryan Roy Picard, Kai Simon, Patrick Disch, Preston Tenney, Sr., Seth Disch, Preston Tenney, Jr. and Ricky Touchet are honorary pallbearers.
