Troy Thomas Bienvenu

Troy was born August 16, 1961 in St. Martinville to Delores Fremin Bienvenu and the late Leonard J. Bienvenu, Sr. and was one of five children born to that union. He was a proud graduate of South Louisiana Community College and a business owner in New Iberia. He and his wife Chrys owned and operated Music Vision for many years, and Troy recently opened Troy's Accessories. He was sought after and respected for his quality craftsmanship in custom built audio equipment and for automobile customizations. His work and passion for automobiles led him to his involvement with "Cajun Cruisers". It was a great time for him and the many members when they got together to showcase their vehicles to the public. When not working, and that wasn't often as Chrys said, Troy enjoyed listening to all types of music, baking his famous rum cakes, and following his favorite sports teams, the New Orleans Saints the LSU Tigers. Troy was a longtime and faithful member of First United Methodist Church where he and Chrys sang in the Choir.

The following tribute was written by Troy's daughter, Alyssa.

"My dad passed away suddenly yesterday morning. It came as a shock to all of us; he was only 59 years old. The hole this has left in my heart feels like a chasm that is so wide and so immense--I have no words to express this feeling other than sadness beyond measure.

My dad was stubborn, hard-headed, and a bit boisterous on occasion. We joked last night that he must have been in the top 20 most stubborn men in the world. I think that was generous--I'd put him top 10. He also had a wild sense of humor and matching laugh, compassion for all, and an especially soft spot for his friends and family. He would do anything for someone he loved. He was a good ol' Cajun, complete with a reasonable accent, a deep love of weekend fishing trips, and a taste for spicy foods. He loved Saints football, music of every genre and style, and classic cars, and he would gladly tell you that he knows enough about all three to win any debate on those topics. He was my biggest fan, and he pushed me to go where my dreams took me--even if that meant letting his little girl go to grad school very far away from home. I miss him so much already.

A virtual service will likely occur soon. I will post details once we have them. Until then, my mom is likely not the person to contact for now. I have the space to answer messages if you need or want more information. Please give her a little more space as we grieve. Prayers and support are appreciated. Thank you."

Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 29 years, D. Chrystine Lord Bienvenu; his daughter, whom he loved dearly, Alyssa V. Bienvenu; his mother, Dolores Fremin Bienvenu; his mother-in-law, Linda G. Lord; his brothers and sisters, Leonard "Squeaky" Bienvenu, Jr. (Libby), Stacie B. Hartweck (Robert), Corey Bienvenu (Shanon) and Leah B. McClelland (Neal); and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard J. Bienvenu, Sr.; and his father-in-law, Dr. Thomas A. Lord.

A memorial service will be celebrated for Troy at a later date and will be announced on his memorial page. The family asks that family and friends keep them in prayer during this difficult time.
