NEW IBERIA- Webster Joseph Hebert Jr., age 83, of New Iberia, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Born in New Iberia to Ruby Blanchard Hebert and Webster Hebert Sr., Webster led a life marked by service, love, and a deep appreciation for family and the outdoors.
A proud Navy veteran, Webster served from 1959 to 1962 during a conflict, traveling extensively to places like Germany, France, Italy, Spain, New York, and California. His time in the Navy shaped his love for the outdoors and he was honorably discharged.
Webster found great joy in the simplicity of life, especially when he was outdoors caring for his beloved vegetable garden. An avid sports enthusiast, he cheered passionately for college and professional teams, with football, boxing, and softball being among his favorites.
Above all, Webster cherished his role as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his son Chad Hebert (Donna), daughter Keisha Castille (Lance), daughter Monica Gary (Glen), brother Kerney Hebert, and a host of grandchildren: Seth Gary, Trace Gary, Kade Gary, Shelby Hebert, Sydni Hebert, Ethan Castille, and Zoe Castille.
Webster was preceded in death by his beloved wife Irene Hebert, parents Webster Hebert Sr. and Ruby Blanchard Hebert, brother Charles Hebert, and godchild Rachel. Romero.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia, with a rosary service by the Men's Rosary Group at 6:00 PM. The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church, officiated by Monsignor Romero.
Webster will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife Irene at the church mausoleum. The Iberia Veterans Honor Guard will perform military honors.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Hebert, Seth Gary, Kade Gary, Trace Gary, Ethan Castille, and Glen Gary. Honorary pallbearers will be Kerney Hebert and Lance Castille.
Webster's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.
