NEW IBERIA – Funeral services celebrating the life of William “Bill” Moneyhon will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Pastor Kenny Wright of Church of Christ will officiate. Bill will be laid to rest at Nativity Mausoleum following services.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until time of services.
Bill was born April 20, 1954 in Abilene, Texas to the late Clarence Thomas Moneyhon and the late Geneva Campbell Moneyhon, and passed away peacefully Wednesday November 21 in Ringgold, LA. He was 64.
Bill was a hard worker and enjoyed life to the fullest. He spent many years in the oilfield as an operator and worked with Island Operators and other various oilfield related companies. Most will remember him as “Scuba Bill” and his company Scuba Bill’s Dive and Travel. As a Dive Master and Dive Instructor, he taught lessons and guided clients on some of the best dives ever. Having lived in the British Virgin Islands and Belize afforded him some of the best diving around and the most beautiful waters. He was very proud of being a member of the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) for over 25 years. Some of his other pastimes included fishing and riding motorcycles. His greatest love was his family and he cherished every moment spent with them. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his former wife and friend, Michelle Boudreaux Moneyhon; his children, Lani Moneyhon, Thomas Moneyhon and Michael Moneyhon; his sister and brother, Carolyn McMillan and David Wells; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother, Sheila Sonnier and Robert “Bob” Johnson; his mother and father-in-law, Mildred and Dudley Boudreaux; and his faithful dogs, Toby Keith and Annie Mae.
Serving as pallbearers are Lani Moneyhon, Tina Huynh, Kenny Hanks, Sean Millette, Ricky Martin and Crystal Jaime.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Regional Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Bill while in their care.
