Born in Jewett City, Betsey was loved throughout Riverside Elementary and Griswold High School. After graduating Joseph Lawrence School of Nursing in 1963, Betsey married Peter C. Fox and gave birth to son J. Patrick and twin sons Mathew A. and Douglas O. Fox the following year. Though family always came first, Betsey's true passion was caregiving and also had a particular fondness for a well-told or written story. She shared the like with many a friend, colleague, congregate and with anyone lucky enough to meet her. Since the mid 1970's, Betsey embraced Unitary Universalism. After joining the church in Norwich, New London's All Soul's Congregation and Ministers enjoyed Betsey's unique perspectives, sweet little alto voice and always engaging nature. She will be dearly missed. Betsey's career defined her giving soul. Starting at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, Summit Convelesant Home, Griswold Public Health and Lisbon Central School, one divorce later, she and her boys moved to Danielson as she blessed Stula Pavilion and Community Health and Homecare with ten plus years of TLC. Returning to her roots, S.E.CT became the beneficiary of her expert care. United Community Services, Ross and Shoreline Adult Day Care as well as the VNA of S.E.CT is where the majority of her nurturing continued, culminating with a Florence Nightengale Award after being nominated by many of her peers. Betsey's love of family, friends, writing, music, laughing and compassion for her fellow man is what she will be most remembered by.... and her potato salad.
A Celebration of her life will be held at All Souls Church, 19 Jay St., New London, CT on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 1:00pm.
