Donald Robert Sisson

He was born in New London, Connecticut on 25 July 1952. Donald lived in Waterford on West Strand Road until the early 1990’s when he moved to New London. After his retirement he lived in senior housing in East Lyme until he became paralyzed from the waist down in June 2024.

After graduation from Waterford High School, Donald worked as a maintenance man at the Bureau of Business Practice until they moved from Waterford in 2003. He then worked at Foxwoods Casino as a parking dispatcher. He retired after approximately ten years at Foxwoods.

Donald was fortunate to have traveled to Florida several times. He also visited his sister and her family in Hawaii and later annually in Virginia. Several years ago, he drove across the country to San Diego. He had also traveled throughout New England.

Donald was a lifetime member of Goshen Fire Department. He was well known in the Shore Road area as a friendly person who was always willing to help you as needed. He was never married. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Emily Sisson, his brothers David and Gary Sisson, and his sister Susanne Sisson Whitesides. Donald is survived by his sister-in-law Jean Sisson, and a brother-in-law Walter Whitesides and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

His funeral services will be conducted at the Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home in New London on the 23rd of August at 1000. Burial will follow at Jordan Cemetery, Waterford.
