Harry was born on February 1, 1926 in New London, the son of Nicholas and Antonia (Faranella) Apicelli. He owned and operated Apicelli Landscaping with his father and later took over the business when his father passed in 1954. His passion for landscaping led him to the Avery-Copp House Property at the age of 12, where he spent the last 80 years dedicated to maintaining the grounds.
Harry is survived by his sister Angelina Fulton of Groton, nephews Joseph and David Fulton, Gary, Jim, Jeff and Jay Apicelli, Dick and Ron Ceravolo and Paul Smith; nieces Judy Strona, Joan Tully, Carolyn Strickland and Barbara Carr. He is predeceased by his brothers Frank and John Apicelli and sisters Jennie Ceravolo and Viola Smith.
At Harry's request, funeral services will be private. Donations may be made in his memory to the Avery-Copp House Museum, 154 Thames St., Groton, CT 06340. Donations will be used to maintain the historic landscape that Harry lovingly cared for for over 75 years.
