

Robert James Nourie II, 65, of Lisbon, CT, passed away September 2, 2025, from AML. He fought hard this past year and half, but the disease took over, he was surrounded by his family and close friends. He was born in New London on November 27, 1959, to the parents of Robert J Nourie and Marietta (Rubino) Nourie who predeceased him.
Rob grew up in Mystic and that is where he met his wife Karen Vanni Nourie in 1980. They were married for 39 years and settled in Lisbon to raise their family. Rob was a 1978 graduate of Robert E. Fitch Senior High School in Groton. He was a Sheet Metal Journeyman for the past 45 years. He ended his career at Kennedy Sheet Metal in Bozrah.
Rob was a devoted family man; he was involved in the Taftville Little League system and a Cub Scout Leader. Being involved with the local Boy Scout chapter is where he fell in love with outdoor cooking. He enjoyed smoking foods and dutch oven cooking. His specialty was garbage can turkey and washtub pork butt. Rob always enjoyed being outdoors fishing and camping was a way to unwind and just relax. He always looked forward to the biannual camping trips with the Jaycox and Wisniewski families. These trips will go on, but they won’t be the same without him. There will be many stories to reminisce about.
Rob is survived by his son Kevin R Nourie of Killingworth, CT and his loving wife Jocelynn. His daughter Sara Nourie-Hicks, of Griswold, CT and her devoted husband Joshua Hicks. He adored his two granddaughters he was “Pa” to Kinsley and Peyton Nourie. Rob is also survived by his sister Cheryl Nourie of Dyer, AR her husband Jim Juliane and niece Jamey. His sister-in-law Kimberly Melluzzo of Old Lyme, CT, nieces Francesca and Marina. His brother Mark Nourie of Uncasville, CT and his wife Ann. His brother Daniel Nourie of Milton, MA and his wife Mary and nephew Luke and niece Colette. He’ll be missed by his devoted dogs Dixon and Brady.
Rob’s passing has left a huge void with his close family and friends. But he always said life moves on and enjoy the moments you have. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and will be private.
