

New Haven- William Arthur Jackson, Jr., son of William A.Jackson Sr. and the late Barbara ( Baldwin) Jackson of Groton, Ct. died Jan. 19, 2014 after a short illness. Born in New London, Ct., Bill graduated from Fitch Jr. and Sr. High Schools Groton, Ct. and the University of Hartford in Hartford, Ct. with a degree in social work. He worked for the New Haven branch of Connecticut Dept. of Social Services as a Social Worker for 29 years. Bill loved his work and enjoyed his colleagues. William was predeceased by his mother Barbara Jackson. Bill is survived by his father, William A. Sr.; his brothers John and Glenn Jackson; uncle Louis Jackson; aunts: Louise Whitford and Beatrice Jackson; various cousins and family members in Ct., Deleware, Mass., and New York. Friends in the New Haven area- especially Beatrice Codianni, Ron and Maria, Larry,Helen, Gwen, Donna will surely miss him.as well as h is " adopted Mom" Eleanor Ralls, her son John, her daughter Ellen Jones of Groton, Ct.. Bill was a quiet, humble, gentle man able to befriend people ofall walks of life. Nicknamed " the Professor", he made a host of loyal friends at DSS, his local condo unit, as well as Ward 11 Democratic Committee where he was a passionate activist, Bill served as treasurer of his condo unit organization and was a Block Watch Committee member. He found his faith at Poquonnock Bridge Baptist Church as a youngster and attended various churches in the New Haven area as an adult.
