Z. Barbara McCreary

Born in Bridgeport, September 30,1937, she was the daughter of the late John and Jeanne Novak of Fairfield. 

Educated at the Roger Ludlowe High School,  she graduated in 1953 with several years of college following. Most of her life, she was employed in retail sales finally retiring in 2009 from the Salvation Army Thrift Store. 

Barbara, as she was more commonly known, resided in New London County for the last 34 years. She was a former resident of Clinton and Monroe prior. 

She loved going to the libraries in the towns she lived in - Barbara was an avid reader and enjoyed all types of literary materials. Crossword puzzles were a favorite pastime of hers. Eventually, she found it difficult to find a challenging one after the many years of practice. 

Barbara married the late Frank E. on June 10, 1961. Together they had two daughters - Stacey (Tom) Tynan and Kerrie (Robert) Winfrey and three grandchildren Heather Potts, Bonnie Bausch and Sam Winfrey. She is also survived by her brother, John R Novak of Miami Fl.  

A visiting hour will be held from 10:00 until 11:00am on Wednesday September 10, 2025 in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London, CT 06320. Prior to an 11:00am service in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Jordan Cemetery in Waterford.
