The Grand Diva was called home by God on May 26, 2013, at Chateau Notre Dame of pneumonia. Predeceased by her mother Aimee Fourcade D’Aunoy. Wife of the late Leopold G. “Dutch” Kleinschmidt. Mother of the late Gary F. Kleinschmidt Sr. and brother Fred G. D’Aunoy. Survived by her loving daughter, Peggy Ann Kleinschmidt. Also Survived by three grandchildren, Gary F. Jr., Kenneth Kleinschmidt, and Kristen Winarski of South Carolina, four great grandchildren, Taylor, Gabrielle Aimee, Matthew Kleinschmidt and Emily Warnarski. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mary Louise W. D’Aunoy and daughter-in-law Shirley Gebbs Kleinschmidt.
She was a graduate of Dominican High School. She lived in New Orleans until 13 years ago when she moved to Metairie. Early on she was a member of the Lakeview Garden Club where she met her buddies and took up bridge. She enjoyed bridge but it was the Manhattans and camaraderie she loved the most. Aimee, often compared to “Auntie Mame”, loved life and lived it to the fullest until her death. She never met a person she didn’t like and only saw the good in people. Aimee was a beautiful woman and if you met her, you never forgot her. She was truly a character and lived by her rules and that is what made her so special and different. The world will be a quieter place but heaven will be jumping. I’m sure God thought twice before he summoned her. She will be missed.
Relatives and friends of the family, are invited to attend a festive celebration of Aimee’s life at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 444 Metairie Road on Tuesday June 4, 2013. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm and will be followed by a Memorial Mass at 1:00pm.
Many heartfelt thanks to Ruby Chevez, Ruth Davilia, Toya Bradford and to Chateau Notre Dame Skilled Nursing Home and Hospice Group who provided loving care and comfort to our family. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Louisiana, 3636 S. I-10 Service Road West, Suite 304, Metairie, LA 70001.
