John Casper Dodt III

John Casper Dodt, III, born September 12, 1926 and entered eternal life on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at age 84. Son of the late Anna Wilhelm Dodt and John Casper Dodt, Jr. John is survived by one sister, Mary Ann Dodt Landry wife of Alton A. Landry and preceded in death by a brother, Anthony J. Dodt, also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He lived in New Orleans all his life except for the past 15 years when he resided in Mandeville, LA. He is a 1943 graduate of Holy Cross High School; he then served in the Navy during World War II, and graduated from Tulane University School of Business in 1949. He was a real estate developer and property investor. He served as President of Dodt Realty Company for 45 years. He was a patron of the arts, serving as Secretary-Treasurer of the New Orleans Opera Association for many years and President of Vieux Carre Property Owners and Associates. He welcomed many performing Opera celebrities to his beautifully restored home in the Vieux Carre.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass to be celebrated in the Chapel of Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119 on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 12:00 Noon with visitation at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 11:00 A.M.
