Kathleen Juncker Turan

Helen McMurray Newell, age 96, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2013 in her home at Sunrise Senior Living in Metairie, LA. A native of New Orleans, she was a resident of Metairie for the past 18 years. Beloved wife of 62 years of the late Philip Newell, Jr. and devoted mother to her sons, Roland Newell (Paula Hand) and Stephen Newell (Carol Middleton), The Woodlands, Texas; loving grandmother of LCDR Christopher Newell, US Navy (Stacey) and Kimberly Newell Morrison (Ronald); David Newell (Brooke), Adam Newell (Carol) and Sarah Newell. Proud great grandmother of John, Alan, Andrew and Kathleen Newell, Juliette and Philip Newell, Bryce Newell, and Caroline, Meredith, and Reid Morrison. Also survived by her sister, Lydia McMurray Weber and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation and funeral service at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., New Orleans on Thursday, June 6, 2013 between the hours of 11:30 A.M, and 1:30 P.M. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:30 P.M. followed by interment in St. Louis Cemetery #3, 3421 Esplanade Avenue, New Orleans, LA.
