Dear Lynnette, I can somewhat understand your lost of Larry.  He was a good husband and father.  Even though you had an early notice of his passing on, it's still rough when it happens. The quiet days that follows gives you time to think about life, pray and make plans for Chris, Sylvia and Rene' Jr.  I lived thru the lost of my wife, Mary.   We have a lot to be thankful for and blessed with our two beautiful grandkids, Maria and Frankie.  I know that they made Larry very proud and happy.  They were the light of his eyes.  You and I now have to cheer them on and encourage them to strive for the top and to be the very best.  Lynnette I pray for you to have happiness and good health, plus stay active and involved.

Larry's encyclopedic knowledge of Miocene biostratigraphy was an enourmous advantage to our daily business. He worked out many details and nuances that if not for his careful work, would never have been discovered.  One day he called me into his office from across the hallway to show me something he was very excited about. When he told me what he had found, I did not believe him at first.  Then I looked through his microscope, and sure enough, there was a fish tooth (Conodont) broken off and stuck in a foram (microfossil). You could search a million years and never find such a rare thing.
What a privilege it was to have him as a teacher and consultant. Part of him lives on in all of us he has influenced over the time of his great life.

Larry lived young, and he shared his enthusiasm and wisdom with all of us at Exxon over the years. He was the heart of our softball teams in New Orleans and showed us all that just playing the game was enough. Ah, the year we were almost a .500 team...he will always be in the thoughts of those he touched.

I was so sorry to hear about Mr. Larry's passing. I have such fond memories of him and visiting at your home.  I smiled when I saw the old photos of him--brings me back to your back yard, playing with Sylvia, Chris and Snoopy the dog! He was a truly sweet man and he will be missed. We are sending you and the family our hugs, thoughts and prayers.

Larry was the ultimate Biostratigrapher who I was fortunate to work with for several years in New Orleans.  All bug pickers go to heaven so I'm awaiting my turn

Larry was a great mentor and friend to me at ExxonMobil and you have my deepest sympathy at his passing. No one could correlate well logs better than Larry and I was honored to be the recipient of his vast knowledge of the Miocene play of Louisiana. I have great memories of playing softball and competing in the bowling leagues with Larry back in our time in Louisiana. He will be missed by all that knew him.

I will always remember working with Larry as one of my true pleasures. There was a period of time when his office was only steps from mine. I always enjoyed walking those steps either to tap in to Larry's  vast technical knowlege or just to gain a few moments with a wonderful friend.

Lynnette, Joyce and I were very sorry to hear of Larry's passing. In my opinion, he will always stand at the apex of those dedicated and untiring professionals who worked for the Humble Oil and Refining Co., and later Exxon, U.S.A. in micropaleontology and biostratigraphy. Larry and I shared an office in the Chase Brass building in New Orleans during the early 1960's and I always learned something new and useful about fossil recognition from Larry. Larry was a wonderful mentor and great friend. He enable me, and many others at Exxon, to assimilate quickly when we started with the company. It was a pl;easure to have gotten to know such a fine man as Mr. Larry during his stay here at Sunrise. Maria and Franky now have an Angel in heaven to look over them.

Lynette: I will always have fond memories of Larry. He was a valued colleague as I began my professional career working as a subsurface geologist in southern Louisiana. Larry was the proverbial font of knowledge - the consummate “go to” guy for information about the geology of the region or to just talk shop.  He demonstrated the value of geoscience integration, teaching many of us over the years  how to extract the most from biostratigraphy.  I valued his dependability and enthusiasm; he was a great mentor. Most of all, I have vivid memories of what a fun guy he was.

On behalf of the ExxonMobil Biostratigraphy group, I would like to recognize Larry's many contributions to the company, both as an employee and as a consultant, over the many decades.  Every geologist that worked with Larry appreciated his knowledge and enthusiasm for paleontolgy.  He was a good friend and respected colleague.  His will be missed.

Larry was a special person and I valued him deeply as a friend and mentor.  A gifted professional, he gave freely of his time to help and educate others in their craft.  He loved life and laughter came easily.  Sports were a passion and he indeed bled Dodger Blue.  I treasure our talks and the times we spent chasing the little white ball together.  I'll miss him.

Larry was a great guy who I loved working with.  As a SF Giants fan we had a lot of fun with the Giants/Dodger rivalry.  I'll miss him.
