

Carrie Bailey McCoy passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on Monday, March 25, 2013 at The Wartburg Adult Care Community in Mount Vernon, NY. She was a long time resident of New Rochelle NY, where she was a congregant of St. Simon’s Episcopal Church. Carrie was born in Wilmington NC on May 10, 1918, the only child of Carleen Price Bailey of Wilmington and Dr. Clarence Bailey of Baltimore MD. She was raised in Brooklyn NY where she married Arnold H. Arrington in 1936. They had one child, Barbara Anne. After many years service, Carrie retired from the Federal Housing Administration. She continued working as a licensed real estate broker. Later she worked in retail sales, ultimately retiring again at age 80 from Bloomingdales in White Plains where she was an award winning associate in silver dining ware. She enjoyed raising poodles and loved her co-workers, friends, and the extended families of her mother and her first husband. She loved and took great pride in her own family: her daughter, Barbara Arrington Dodds; her 3 grandchildren, Julian Dodds, Jason Dodds and Sarah Dodds-Brown and; her 4 great grandchildren, Oliver Dodds, Eleanor Brown, Marshall Brown and Walker Brown. Carrie will always be remembered for her spirit, tenacity, energy, beauty and love of life. Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, April 2, from 2pm followed by a Chapel Service at 4pm at the Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, April 3 at St. Simon’s Episcopal Church, 135 Remington Place, in New Rochelle, NY followed by burial at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, NY. Donations may be made in memory of Carrie Bailey McCoy to The Wartburg Foundation, Wartburg Place, Mount Vernon NY.
