

Frank J. Mastandrea, 92, a man dedicated to his family, community and country, passed away on Veterans Day, November 12, 2012. He was born in the Bronx on July 4, 1920 and was a Pelham Manor/Bronx resident since 1959. Frank is survived by his cherished wife of over 64 years, Isabella; sons, Frank, Jr. and wife, Marie of Albany, NY; Robert and wife, Alison of Roscoe, NY and daughter, Michele Tombini and husband, John of New Rochelle, NY. He is also survived by his dear granddaughter, Lauren Marie Mastandrea, wonderful nieces, nephews, friends and his dedicated caregivers.
After proudly serving his country in the Air Force during WWII, Frank returned to his family in the Bronx and met Isabella Guadagno who he married on November 16, 1947. He worked hard to develop his automotive repair businesses and became passionately involved as a community leader. He was a mentor to many young people throughout his career.
Frank proudly represented his community as a District Leader, was an active leader of the Bronx Republican Club, Past Commander of VFW Post 271, Catholic War Veterans and The Police Athletic League. He was elected in 1967 to represent his district as a NYS Constitutional Delegate and later sold his business to enter public service. He worked under the Rockefeller Administration as a Deputy Commissioner with the Narcotic Control Commission. He completed his public service working with various New York City Agencies, including the NYC Department of Real Property and Department of General Services. Following retirement he pursued his love of music. For decades he had entertained many as a harmonica player with the Harmonica Rascals and he continued to spread happiness through his music to several generations until his passing.
Family will receive visitors Friday, November 16th during the hours of 3:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at George T. Davis Funeral Home, New Rochelle, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration will be held on Saturday, November 17th at 10:00 a. m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Pelham Manor, NY with interment to follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery
