Donald Wise Rose was born on June 7, 1942, to Andrew Jackson Rose and Edna Wise Rose.
His unwavering testimony tells us that he was saved in the cab of an old semi-truck on a cold night in 1968. It is also known that he did not fully realize the changes he needed to undertake and was not prepared to fully sacrifice the worldly things necessary to fully enjoy and receive God's Grace.
In 1982, that realization became clear when God chastised him and he was granted one more opportunity to receive God's Grace. Having accepted and now understanding he set forth to be a more Godly man.
He was a passionate member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church since its organization. He was a deacon. He was a man that spoke of God and His forgiveness. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was loved and will be remembered for the man he became.
From near death in 1982, God granted him 43 more years until his appointed time on September 13, 2025. Now he knows Heavenly peace.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Phyllis Rose. Sons Andy Rose (Tazewell, TN) and Donald Rose (Rachel) (Baxter, KY). Grandchildren Joshua Rose (Kelly) (Knoxville, TN), Caleb Rose (Baxter, KY), and Carah Rose (Baxter, KY). Great Grandchildren Charlotte Rose (Knoxville, TN) and Henry Rose (Knoxville, TN). Special mention Kimberly Patterson (Corbin, KY).
The family will receive friends on Tuesday September 16, 2025, from 5 until 7 PM at Coffey Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7 PM in the Coffey Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service will be Wednesday September 17, 2025, at 11 AM in Irish Memorial Gardens.
