Elmer Douglas Bitner

Elmer Douglas Bitner, born Aug. 25, 1922, went before us to be with our Lord on Feb. 19, 2011. He has seen Heaven’s light and is following his father & mother, Samuel and Ruby Bitner; his wife, Rhoda, of 52 years; his sister Margret, as well as other beloved family and friends.

Elmer awaits his three sons and daughters-in-law; Gary and Chris Bitner of Lansing, MI., Russell and Peggy Bitner also of Lansing, MI., and Dale and Sandy Bitner of MI. He also waits for his three daughters and sons-in-law; Gail and Jim Honeywell of Ypsilanti, MI., Debra and J W Sweet of New Tazewell, TN., Rita Harkins and Curtis Cole of Portland, OR.

Also sending Elmer to our Lord are 20 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews as well as a host of other family and friends.

Elmer overcame many trials in his life including the perils of WWII and Parkinson’s Disease. He came to God in 1961 after many years of strife, at which time he spent the rest of his life serving our Lord.

Elmer Douglas Bitner will be greatly missed by his family and friends alike.
