James William (J.W.) McGinnis, age 88, of Washburn, Tennessee, peacefully went to his Heavenly home on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Claiborne Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones. He was saved at an early age and was a faithful member of Clinch Valley American Christian Church. J.W. was co-owner of C & M Cabinets for many years. He loved wood working and farming, but his greatest loves were his family, his church and singing songs of praise to God while playing his guitar. Throughout the years, he was involve in many community activities and organizations including Tate Springs Masonic Lodge, where he was past Master and dedicated to participating in the Shrine paper sale for years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carson & Imogene Johnson McGinnis; infant sister, Wanda Pauline McGinnis; brother, Kin McGinnis; grandson, Johnny Paul Young; great-great grandson, Jaxon Harvey.
He is survived by his loving Wife of 54 years: Thelma McGinnis;
Daughters: Jane (Larry) Young, Sue Young, Gail (Charles) Nicley, Deb McGinnis, and Kristy (Rusty) Waller;
Grandchildren: Carrie (Sam) Helton, Amber (Adam) Ramsey, Lori (Matt) Piper, Adam (Beth) Nicley, Noah Waller & fiance' Haley Nicley;
Great Grandchildren: Brittany (Jonathan) Harvey, Hope Piper and Clay Piper and awaiting the arrival of great-great Granddaughter, Ava Kate Harvey;
Sister-in-law: Cindy McGinnis;
Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law: Charles & Loretta Welch; Special Caregiver: Darlene Satterfield and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caring staff of Claiborne Medical Center, Amedisys Home Health and Dr. Brent Neal.
The family will receive friends at Coffey Funeral Home for J.W. Monday, April 4, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Graveside service will be Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Clinch Valley American Christian Church Cemetery, Hwy 25E, Clinch Mountain.
