He was saved at an early age and joined Chittum Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where he remained a faithful member and deacon until his passing.
Joe loved everyone, especially the church family, and everyone loved him including every little child that came to church. He was known to be out and about visiting his neighbors every chance he had. Joe loved to participate in wagon trains with his friends.
He had several jobs besides farming, but the one he took pride in was running a backhoe. Which he was very talented at, meeting new friends and doing the best job possible. After retiring he loved to go to Ball’s Hardware every morning where the men would all pull up chairs and tell tales for a couple of hours.
Joe’s world revolved around his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who brought him much joy.
