Milton Painter, age 96, of New Tazewell, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 29, 2023.
He accepted Christ as his savior in 1965, and was a member of Thompson Chapel Church of New Tazewell.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Painter, daughter Judy Melton, son-in-law Wayne Melton, grandsons Jamie Melton, and Chris Melton all of New Tazewell, and his mother and father Lola Kate Painter and William Painter of New Tazewell.
Milton is survived by his sons Larry and wife Judy of New Tazewell, Jim and wife Lischa of Tazewell, Joe and wife Mary of Halls, David and wife Joyce of Tazewell, Jackie and wife Tonya of New Tazewell. As well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
A special thanks to Tonya for taking care of dad in his last days; Colleen Burke for her kindness and cleaning of the house; and Smoky Mountain Hospice for taking care of dad. The family also wants to thank dad's sister Betty Barnard and her daughters Linda Stilson, Brenda McMurray, Teresa Sutton, Lisa Greer for taking care of the family.
The family will receive friends on Friday June 2, 2023 from 5 until 8 PM at Coffey Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 8 PM in the Coffey Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service will be held Saturday June 3, 2023 at 9 AM in Old Irish Cemetery.
