I enjoyed reading his books through the years, I met him  where I work but  at one of his  book signings I got to see him in a different light.  I  loved, well still do love his  writing style. Dallas was very special. He will truly be missed. I'm heartbroken and don't have the words. Rest comfortably and be at peace, Dallas. I know you're surrounded by your beloved kitties.

Though a talented life has ended, the treasured memories and life works, of Dallas, will continue to live with all those who knew and loved him. I regret not hunting you down at one of your NYC haunts more in the past few years.  You were kind and supportive and encouraging and creative and ambitious and oh so singular. You always made me proud to be part of our crazy family and I always wondered how many of our cousins, aunts and uncles you subversively popped into your books.  I guess your secrets will remain thus. Rest easy, Dal.

I went to high school with Dallas, he always welcomed me with that wonderful smile.  He lit up the room when he came in and was so friendly to everyone.  I didn't know what happened to him after high school but I will always remember him.  I'm so happy he had such great success in his life and that he changed the lives of so many people.  And he was a cat person, that says a lot to me as well.  Rest in peace, Dallas, you will always have a warm place in my heart.

Dallas was once my 15-year-old student at Livingston High School. I was a young and inexperienced English teacher, but it was immediately apparent to me that Dallas's prose was special and I told him so. We wrote to our favorite authors in that class and Dallas wrote to Robert Bloch, author of PSYCHO, and Dallas's favorite. Bloch responded and a friendship/mentorship was born. Bloch encouraged Dallas, and in time, Jack Ketchum was born. Many years later, before I knew of Dallas's successful career, he sent me one of his books. What a joy to know he had become a writer! We connected, met up, wrote to each other...he was always so special to me...he was a warm, kind, and generous person--his dark writings are so opposite of the person I knew. I will miss him and needless to say, I am proud to have known him. Love you, Dallas...xxoo's as you always signed.

We will miss you at our 50th Emerson Reunion. You were a wonderful friend and noble member of the Class of 1968. Rest in peace my friend.
