OBITUARY

David Stoll

27 September, 1966 – 20 November, 2023
IN THE CARE OF

Frank E. Campbell - The Funeral Chapel

Stoll, David Jeremy

David died on November 20 at age 57 after a long series of illnesses. He is survived by his husband, Ellis Hanson; his parents, Robert and Joyce Stoll; his sisters Rebecca Usadi and Rachel Stoll; and his nephews, Jake Usadi, Caleb Usadi, Charlie Usadi, and Levi Grady Stoll; and many other relatives who were very dear to him.

David grew up in New Jersey but from a very young age looked to a future in New York City. He graduated from Columbia College and Yale Law School and clerked on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals before starting to practice trusts & estates law at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in 1992. In 2009, David rejoined Milbank as a trusts & estates partner; David had worked at the firm for four summers in the 1980s, which were very important experiences for him. It was then and there he decided he wanted to be a large law firm partner representing individuals and families.

David became a nationally recognized trusts & estates lawyer, and for years taught at Yale Law School as an adjunct professor. Since 1993, he and Ellis have lived in Carnegie Hill, where he was chairman of the board of Carnegie Hill Neighbors and president of his co-op. He also loved Princeton, where he took great pride in having started a campaign, eventually successful and involving many others, to save green space from development. It was David's wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to Carnegie Hill Neighbors or Central Park Conservancy
