Passed away on November 23, 2025, just missing the age of 94 by 3 weeks. Born and raised in Brooklyn, graduate of NYU, Donald had distinguished careers in journalism, Newark city government and as the co-founder and director of the Urban Health Institute, a hospital and health care consulting firm, which he led for over 35 years. He possessed a great intellect, often unique perspectives, and was a loyal friend and mentor to many. Donald was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Hillary, and father to his sons Philip (Judy) and Victor (Lydia), and uncle to nieces and nephews. His loyalty (and frustration) extended to his beloved Jets and Mets. Donations to Weiner Family Palliative Care Unit at Mount Sinai Hospital.
