

Born July 16, 1927 to Eli Whitney Debevoise. Founding Partner of Debevoise and Plimpton and Barbara Clay Debevoise, daughter of archeologist and Sumerian scholar Albert T. Clay , Elizabeth, often known as Betsy grew up in Manhattan, attended the Brearley School followed by Vassar College from which she graduated in 1949.
In the early 1950's she taught at Nightingale-Bamford school. In 1952, she married Harold H. Healy, Jr., a lawyer at Debevoise and Plimpton and in 1956 they had a son, Harold Harris Healy III known as Harris.
For most of her life she lived in New York City and Green Village New Jersey, enjoying the cultural events of the city as well as her memberships in the Colony Club, the Colonial Dames of America and the Society Of Daughters of Holland Dames and enjoying flowers fresh vegetables and nature walks in New Jersey.
Besides living in Paris, France in the mid 1960's she traveled extensively with her husband to Spain, Portugal, Greece, Scandinavia, Russia, Egypt, Israel, India and Morocco among others.
She is predeceased by her husband and survived by her son. The funeral will be at St. James Church, 865 Madison Avenue, New York, New York, Friday November 3, 2023. Burial in the family plot at the Fair Mount Cemetery in Chatham, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the New Jersey Conservation Foundation, Yale University's Yale Babylonian Collection, Vassar College, and the Brearley School.
