Helene was a lifelong New Yorker. After graduating from Julia Richman High School, she went on to Fairleigh Dickinson University and then continued her studies at Teachers College, Columbia University. Helene was an educator. She devoted more than 35 years teaching in NYC public elementary schools and later volunteered at the American Museum of Natural History. She pursued many creative interests from hand loom weaving, basket making, and designing elaborate beaded jewelry. After retiring in 2002 she traveled extensively making many new meaningful friendships. She loved the theater and the parks of NY. She spent as much time as possible with her grandsons, Ethan and Noah. If you understood her humor, you were part of her inner circle which means you probably also liked a "good" cup of coffee.
Helene is predeceased by her beloved husband, Elliott Korman, and her brother, Ross Rosenberg. She is survived by her sister, Jean Cohen; her daughters, Joanna Korman and Melissa Di Rienzo; and her cherished grandsons, Ethan and Noah Di Rienzo.
All are welcome to contribute a memory or message on this page to commemorate Helene's extraordinary life
