

Born March 1, 1936 in Cohoes, New York, she was the daughter of Agustive and Helen (Jarosz) Darwak. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Junker, her beloved sister, Barbara Springer and dear companion, Ed Schmidt.
Jean made her way to New York City as a young professional woman and General Electric was fortunate to have her in their employ for 35 years. She was passionate about her career and, traveled the world over, falling in love with the music and culture of Vienna making visits there throughout her entire life. Her love of the opera and symphony kept her in attendance at The Metropolitan Opera and Tanglewood, alongside her sister Barbara. Jean celebrated a life of service to the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola and was a devoted member and active participant for 35 years. She was most grateful and proud of her recovery and commitment to her sobriety, being an involved member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 38 years. Jean touched and showed her love to so many people, leaving her legacy. She is survived by loving cousins, godchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous special friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
A memorial mass will celebrate Jean's life on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, 980 Park Avenue, New York, NY. Live streaming will be available through the Church of St. Ignatius.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jean's memory to the church or St. Ignatius Loyola Grammar School.
