

Leonard “Lenny” Fisher, an accomplished journalist, proud father, and loving husband, passed away peacefully in his home in East Hampton, New York on Tuesday, June 18th surrounded by his family at the age of 80.
Services will be held on Sunday, June 23rd at 10:00am at Riverside Memorial Chapel at 180 West 76th Street in New York City, and will be followed by three days of Shiva in New York City, New Jersey, and East Hampton, NY.
Leonard was a talented writer and storyteller, and a passionate journalist for nearly 40 years. He began reporting at the Star Ledger in 1968 and quickly rose in the ranks, making a name for himself in the New Jersey news scene until his retirement in 2004 as Associate Editor. During his long career, he reported on countless significant events, from the Detroit Riots in 1967 to the fall of the Twin Towers in 2001, where he was the first Star Ledger reporter on the scene.
Lenny was born in Newark, New Jersey, on September 18, 1943 to Ann and Maurice Fisher. He was the younger brother to Barbara Fisher whom he adored. He attended Bradley University in pursuit of a degree in English and graduated in 1965.
He lived with his wife and children in Greenwich Village in New York City for over 20 years. Following a storied and accomplished journalistic career, Lenny and his wife Susanna moved out to the quiet neighborhood of Springs in East Hampton, NY.
Lenny was the life of the party, was loved by all who met him, and a best friend to so many. He was so appreciative of everything in his life, whether it be his morning buttered roll with coffee or nice meal out in the sun with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Susanna Fisher and his twin children, Ari and Rachel.
