Lisa Papamarkou Jewell of New York City passed away on February 7, 2023. Born in Athens Greece on September 17, 1928, Lisa devoted her life to philanthropy, many of her favorite causes included medical science and animal welfare. Lisa loved world travel and excelled at languages; she was fluent in Greek, German, French and English. Before making New York her permanent home, Lisa was a resident of London, England, Bangkok, Thailand and California. The daughter of Mrs. Margo Leschiner Papamarkou and Dr. Plutarchos Papamarkou, Chair of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at Rockefeller University. Lisa was predeceased by her sister, Iris Papamarkou and brother, Alexander Papamarkou, founder of Papamarkou & Company investment firm in New York. Lisa is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Mr. Keith D. Jewell.
A funeral service will be held from 4pm-6pm, Wednesday, February 15, at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel, 1076 Madison Avenue in New York. The funeral mass will take place at 10am Thursday, February 16 at The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral located at 337 East 74th Street, NY, NY.
