Maritza Quiroz, born on August 11, 1972 passed away on January 4, 2026, at the age of 53. Born in the Bronx and raised in Manhattan, she was the kindest, most gentle, and loving soul, someone whose warmth and compassion touched everyone who knew her. She was the beloved daughter of Lucia Marrero and Natividad Torres.
Maritza devoted her life to caring for others. She spent many years working in the nonprofit sector supporting those facing food insecurity, and most recently served as a Scheduling Coordinator in the Geriatrics Department at Mount Sinai Hospital.
She was a loving mother of two, a proud grandmother, a devoted sister, and a loving partner, as well as a cherished aunt and daughter. She treasured time with her family, loved the beach, butterflies, and found great comfort in her parish community at St. Cecilia.
Sixteen years ago, Maritza endured the heartbreaking loss of her son Danny, at the age of 12. Through her life and her love, she taught all of us compassion, empathy, and quiet strength.
She is survived by her daughter, her grandson, her mother, her sister , brother, and her uncle. She also leaves behind a niece and three nephews, a sister-in-law, brother-in-law, son-in-law, loving partner, and many dear friends and family.
Maritza was our heart, and her love will remain with us always.
