

Nathan Burkan Jr., died on February 22, 2024, age 92. Beloved son of the late Nathan Burkan and Marienne Alexander. Married 55 years to loving wife Roberta Burkan, beloved father of their son Jonathan Burkan (Kimberly) and loving grandfather of granddaughters Laura and Grace.
Nathan graduated from Dartmouth College in 1953 and served in the Occupation Forces in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany during 1954 to 1956. He then graduated from New York Law School in 1958. He was a lawyer spending a number of years in private practice and then for many years as an Assistant Corporation Counsel in New York City government.
Nathan was a great reader of history. His major interest was the United States Civil War and in 2009 he helped as a trustee with the formation of The Civil War Forum of New York, where he was in charge of writing book reviews about Civil War topics. Nathan had an incredible spirit, true grit and an amazing sense of humor. He was one of the nicest, kindest human beings in the world!

Wednesday & Thursday shiva will move to the Burkan home, 9 Winfield Avenue, Harrison, NY.
