Patrick J Briody

Briody – Patrick Joseph. “Pat” Briody, age 86, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, at Weill Cornell Medical Center after a lengthy illness with Lewy Body Syndrome, borne with great faith and courage.

Born on December 16, 1938, to Patrick and Margaret Briody. Pat attended Sacred Heart School and All Hallows High School before graduating from Fordham University. After proudly serving in the U.S. Army as an officer, Pat went on to have a distinguished career in Broadcast Advertising, rising to VP at Young and Rubicam.

A lifelong and devoted Giants Fan, Pat cheered on Big Blue every season, rarely missing a game.

For over fifty years, Pat’s haven was Saltaire, Fire Island tending to plants, completing daily the New York Times crossword puzzle in pen, playing tennis and filling weekends with family and legendary games of Charades, Spoons, Backgammon, Facts in Five and Othello. He was a long-standing member of the Saltaire Yacht Club (Commodore 1983-1984).

Pat is survived by his wife of 55 years Clare (nee Kirwan); sister Margaret Briody Ryan (Daniel); nephew Chris Ryan (Catherine); and nieces Nancy Tirone (Anthony), Colleen Cleary (David) and Deirdre Christiansen (David) and an extended family of in-laws, nieces, and nephews here and in Ireland. A loving great uncle he was often referred to as “Unc” by 24 great nieces and nephews.

Interment will take place privately.
