It is difficult to put into words what Peter G. Peterson meant to me. He was my employer, he was my mentor, he was my inspiration. Most importanly, he was my friend. A friend I could trust and depend on. He always had my best interest, and propelled me to achieve amazing things in my life. Much of what I am as a man today was inspired and shaped by this great man we've lost. I want to express my deepest condolonces to his family, especially his children. To John, Jim, David, Michael and Holly, my heart goes out to you. Your father was a great man that will truly be missed.

My father, Richard Curtis, worked as Mr. Peterson's driver at Lehman when I was a child. The words he left with me still ring true to this day. I thank Mr. Peterson for his guidance and kindness. My only wish is for his soul to have eternal peace, for which he greatly deserves.

We have lost a great visionary, leader and American.  He inspired me when I worked for him at the U.S. Department of Commerce in 1972 and through the years as a trustee of the Committee for Economic Development, where he was always our guiding light.  We will miss him, but will carry on his work.  My sympathies to his family.

I played singles tennis in the 1960s summers in Fish Creek Wisconsin with the then head of Bell and Howell we knew as Pete Petropolous,  later Pete Peterson. He was lots of fun and a down to earth friendly competitor. But he was always being called off the court in mid game to take an important call on his home phone from his office in Chicago ! Way before mobile phones! He will still be getting those friendly calls of remembrance in his after life. A good guy and fine gentleman, my politics aside.

I was inspired by this great American years ago even though I never met him.  I have read several of his books and I joined the Concord Coalition he co founded in 1992.  I currently serve the Coalition as their volunteer Indiana Fiscal Lookout.   What a great example he was for those who have great personal careers as well as financial success yet leave a legacy and purpose that is for all Americans.  May he rest in peace.

Mr. Peterson was Chairman and CEO of Lehman Brothers when I began my career.  His work as a financier, public servant and though leader was inspirational.  He served as a mentor and role model to many, many executives and professionals.  My deepest sympathy to his family and may he rest in peace.

May His memory be eternal. Mr. Peterson was instrumental in helping Father George Papadeas in founding a mission Orthodox Church in Ocala, Florida. Through one of our members Mr. Miltiades Davis a longtime friend of Mr. Peterson, he established a contact with Father George.  We have always been grateful for his generosity in helping this mission become a resource to the community.  Men such as Mr Peterson are true servants to God and man. Cooley Pantazis, MD.
