Praful was born in Mumbai to Leela and Sampatrao Nikam, a decorated Mumbai police officer. Praful completed his masters from Mumbai University. He had brief stints with global IT companies in the mid 80s before following his true passion to be an entrepreneur. He moved to the United States in the late 80s and started working for an insurance company in NYC which is where he co-founded the Insurance focused technology company. He bootstrapped this IP focused solutions provider from its inception and led it from the front in all aspects. He and his co-founder assembled a team of passionate individuals who collectively spearheaded the growth of the company in a highly competitive P&C insurance industry. The company he founded continues to power the mission critical operations of some of the largest insurance companies in the USA even today. He successfully exited that business in the late 2000s after a health scare and passed on the baton to his former employer which protected, and grew his legacy.
Always restless at heart, he then followed his passion of being a food connoisseur and ventured into the hospitality industry— again as an entrepreneur. In recent years, he started spending more time on his spiritual journey while still actively following the global macro-economic developments and world affairs. He continued to spread his insights and experiences on that journey amongst his closest friends and associates. Praful will always be remembered as a leader, visionary and entrepreneur who lived life on his own terms. He influenced and inspired hundreds of IT professionals and their families over the years.
Praful is survived by his wife Anita, and son Yesh.
