Randy was a very happy wanderer on many Yale Club hikes in Hong Kong. I wish him happy trails on the other side.


I was very sad to hear of Randy's passing. For nearly twenty years, I was fortunate to have known him through activities of the Yale Club and will always remember his generosity and good cheer on the tennis court and at gatherings of fellow alumni.

My condolences to Randy's family and his many friends that this good man is gone. Hong Kong will miss him very much.

We were very saddened to hear of your great loss and join Randy's many friends and admirers in sending  our sincere condolences to Teresa and the family.  It was my privilege to have known Randy and particularly through his dedication to the Rotary Club of Hong Kong.  During my year as President of the Club, he contributed greatly to the Board as the Director of  International Service.  He was indeed a warm, kind, intelligent, gracious and friendly.  I will always remember the day he spoke enthusiastically and at length about Yale University with our son. Randy will be sorely missed but warmly remembered by all who knew him.  He left this world a better place.

My deepest condolences to Randy's family. I last had lunch with Randy in Aug 2018, and I am truly saddened by his untimely passing. Randy offered me much professional and personal advice over the years in Hong Kong, and I was privileged to know him in both the classical music scene and the investment world. He was always kind-hearted and used his resources to improve the lives of others. Even after he retired, he worked tirelessly for the Asia Youth Orchestra, various chamber music initiatives and social/medical organizations. He has been an inspiration to me and will always be an example to follow.

My wife Sook and I met Randy when we first moved to Hong Kong in 1984, and he was a good friend ever since. Frank, forthright, and full of energy: We'll always remember him like that. Our condolences to his family.

It is with great sadness that I learned that Randy had passed away. I had met him professionally and privately in New York and in Hong Kong  a number of times since 2008. I admired him and respected him for his gentlemanly manner, his courtesy and honesty, his knowledge of our respective cultures and the courage that had driven his life. I have only good memories about Randy, and although we were not very close I considered him a friend. I pray for him and I send my deepest condolences to his wife and children. Randy was certainly a man who inspired many and was an example to follow.

Randy was my good friend and sometime tennis opponent in Hong Kong. He was such a nice guy that it was a pleasure to lose a tennis game to him. He lived a good life. He made the world a little better. His vigor, intelligence, warmth and ready smile are a lasting legacy. Warmest wishes to Teresa and Clarence.

It was my great privilege to have known Randy. He led an exemplary life. He proposed to start the Chamber Music Society of Yale Club of Hong Kong in 2016, to promote chamber music performances in charitable events, and it was my honor to realize this idea with him in the past couple years. 

Thanks to Randy's much cherished advice, sponsorship and connections, the Chamber Music Society had the opportunity to perform for many non-profit organizations and to touch the hearts of hospice patients, cancer patients, people with disabilities, abandoned children, underprivileged families, elderly, etc. I am extremely grateful for Randy's support, and hope to continue his spirit in sharing classical music with different communities, especially the underprivileged. He will be sorely missed and well remembered. My deepest condolences to Teresa and the family.

I regret I did not have the opportunity to meet Randolph Kwei.  The comments I have read, shared by family and friends, have certainly been enlightening.  To leave the world better than one found it, is a lifetime personal goal of mine.  It appears it was also a goal of Randolph Kwei.  I am amazed at all the tasks he accomplished in his lifetime, and all the beauty he left behind!

I write this note because although I didn't know Randolph, I do know his son, Clarence.  I know Clarence to be an incredibly kind and thoughtful man.  He is a man of integrity, generous, and very loving to his son, Ben who also replicates the attributes of his father/grandfather.

I have been in the public and private school systems for 44 years; and, I know few students who exemplify the attributes Ben displays even at the tender age of eight.  Ben also has a kind and gentle heart, is loving and forgiving, and is quick to empathize and provide assistance to others when needed.  He is simply a wonderful, young child!

As I think about human behavior, I am in awe by the pattern of kindness and caring which has been replicated from one generation to the next in this family.  What a wonderful legacy to leave behind, Mr. Kwei.

Please know I am saddened to hear about Randolph's death; and, I want to take this opportunity to convey my condolences to his family.

Randy was a wise man.  In his work he brought passion, boundless curiosity and steady commitment to the fast-changing Asian investment landscape.  This made him a wise guide.  More broadly he brought balance, calm, caring and humor to his friendships and commitments.  I was blessed to know him, and will miss his wisdom and kindness greatly.  Sincere condolences to all who loved him.

Randy was such a lovely man in every way. Thoughtful,considerate,and extremely intelligent! He will be missed.

It is my blessing to have known Randy since I started my internship as a medical officer in Hong Kong. He was a knowledgeable, warm-hearted man who was always willing to help others selflessly. With a broad interest in different fields, he was also passionate and excited for the new developments in medicine and contributed a lot for the service of end-of-life care in Hong Kong. I enjoyed every moment spending with him, sharing ideas in life, music and playing tennis together. He had the power and charisma to inspire and encourage one to be a better person. I am deeply grateful for our friendship and I miss Randy so much.

My deepest condolences to Randy's family. He was a dedicated student in yoga classes I taught in Hong Kong when I lived there. He was an inspiration to all on the importance of practicing yoga, no matter what age or ability. He always had time after class to talk about education and life living in Asia and the U.S. His presence will be missed at the yoga studio. May he rest in peace.

A few years ago, I was stunned to learn that Randy had celebrated his 80th birthday earlier that year - I really thought he was closer to late 50s. I was always so impressed by his energy, passion and commitment to all the various endeavours in his life. I feel privileged to have worked with him on a number of charitable music projects. My deepest condolences to his family. He was truly an inspiration.

We're so sorry for you loss. We all loved your father. He was a wonderful man, so caring and warm. I know how much he loved you and your children. When he talked about you you all his face just lit up!! 

Randy was a brilliant business man. We were so happy to have invested with him so many years ago. I was sad when he retired, but i knew he'd leave the business in good hands and i was happy for him. I'll always have fond memories of our dinners and evenings with your mother and father when we visited Hong Kong.

Deep sorrow over the passing away of Randy, my dear mentor and friend. It's hard for us to believe the sad news and we won't forget our days with Randy over the years. He will be missed deeply.

Randy was so kind to me when I first came to Hong Kong, and for all the years after. He was a true gentleman and lived the most exemplary life and the most exemplary retirement, always engaged and interested in new things. I knew Randy mainly through the Yale Club of Hong Kong, and he was very proud of that connection -- as Yale should be of him. Goodbye, my friend.

Randy  was a pioneering investor in Asia, a great friend and a good man. We first met him in Boston back in 1993 and have valued his advice and friendship ever since.  He and his wife were incredibly kind to both my kids when they visited H.K.  We miss his visits to Boston, and send our sincerest condolences to his family. He will be greatly missed! I was blessed to have met Uncle Randy in 1999 via a chance 2-week internship program at his firm; over the last 20+ years, he profoundly transformed my adult life through his genorisity, mentorship, wisdom, and friendship.  I miss him dearly, and will continue his legacy, of living life with boundless curiosity and hope, and always remembering to pay it forward.

Randy played an active role in guiding New Asia College as a Trustee, and as a member of the College Board of Trustees' Sub-committee on Investment. He is sadly missed by all Trustees, friends, staff, alumni and students of New Asia College. May he rest in peace.

Randy will be greatly missed, especially by his many friends in the Yale Club of Hong Kong and the Yale-China Association.  He was always positive and supportive.

As my Hong Kong business partner, Randy played a big part in my life. I feel very privileged to have crossed his path. His legacy will always remain engraved in my mind and in the name of our firm, JK Capital Management Ltd.

Randy was a charming person whose company was always a pleasure to me during the last two of my college years where he and his twin brother Tom shared meals with me and my friends.   His warm and cheerful nature will always be remembered.  His accomplishments in Hong Kong were most impressive.  He will be sorely missed.
