Richard R. Doll, 87, passed away at New York Presbyterian Hospital on December 7th. Dick grew up in Mt. Clemens, Michigan and attended Cranbrook School. He received his BA and MBA in Finance at the University of Michigan, where he met his first wife, Christine Crawford. A Lt.in the Air Force, Dick wrote classified contracts for the U.S. space program. He was a Partner at the investment firm of Naess and Thomas. He later joined Tucker Anthony and R.L. Day, heading their research department as a Managing Director and member of the Executive Committee. At the time of his death, he was a portfolio manager with Security Asset Management. Dick was a member of Marble Collegiate Church, served on the Board and was actively involved in church financial leadership. His innovative thinking spawned Marble Vision and brought church programming into the home. After the passing of Christine, Dick met and married Valerie Onor, also a member of Marble. He was a member of The Union Club and The Meadowbrook Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Lauren Doll and Linda Jacobs, grandchildren Allegra Jacobs, Justine Jacobs, Brittany Creedon and Paige Creedon and sisters Mary Gay Jolliffe and Virginia Breckenfeld. A private family service was held on Saturday, December 12th. A public memorial will be held in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marble Collegiate Church for direction to the Richard R. Doll Memorial Fund.
