Richard Saez passed away on November 28, 2025 in New York City. Born in New York City in 1936, he was the proud son of Spanish parents, Natividad and Mariano Saez. Graduate of Midwood High School in Brooklyn, Dartmouth College ’58, Yale University PhD ’67 and a Professor of English and Comparative Literature at The City University of New York for his entire career. Richard is survived by his partner of 44 years, Eric Bernard, a brother, John (Vincenza), and nieces Marilynda Boyer (Drew), Deborah Saez Lacy (Paul), and Lisa Saez, and a beloved extended family in the US and Barcelona, Madrid, and Valladolid, Spain.
