Missing you, Steve!  You were a giant ray of sunshine in a darkening world.  I wonder what you would have thought of all this pandemic craziness -- lots of good material for sure.  I keep thinking back to when we were putting the Teamsters trial brief together -- to get decades of sordid deeds on the record before the settlement became final.   Members of the team would come into your office and say, "You gotta put this in," or "Don't forget this."  And you'd just say, "Yeah, bring it on!"  and weave it all into the tapestry.   The stuff of legend. 

We lived across West End Avenue from Steve and Suzanne when our oldest kids were born.  We knew Steve as a friend and fellow first-time parent.  His kind nature, practical and positive approach to life, patience and wonderful sense of humor made him a great dad and role model for our kids and his.   We loved spending time with the Bennetts (especially going out to eat at the neighborhood Japanese restaurant, which had a well under the table where the kids could play while the grown ups ate in relative peace and quiet).   The kids are grown now, and they are A M A Z I N G, and Steve lives on in them,  and in our hearts.

I will never forget playing movie trivia with Steve and Jim Daly during a Sedona WG6 dinner. His humour, laugh and welcoming nature will be very much missed!

I worked with Steve from 1997 to 2005 at Jones Day.  Litigator, mentor, friend. I learned how you can be tough but kind, smart but not belittling, demanding but patient.  Most of all, Steve set an example for young lawyers to follow.  I last saw him 4 years ago at one of his comedy performances.  Steve had that dry, self deprecating sense of humor that everyone loved. Steve is and will be sorely missed. Wish I could buy him one last beer.

Steve taught in Manhattan College. He gave me an opportunity to speak at one of his lectures. I was very nervous but I stayed on my script.  Then he asked me the critical question. How many employees were in my company? I drew a blank. He followed up with the answer. As a grew red faced he continued with how well the presentation had been. The students clapped and cheered.  He was gracious, funny, understanding and supportive.  I wish I would have had more opportunities like those to learn so much more from this great man. God bless him and his family.  He will never be forgotten.  

I had the privilege of working with Steve on an IP case and as chair of an AAA council committee on which Steve served.  Steve was always thoughtful and a delight to talk to. I am so sorry for the loss. He will be missed and thought of often. Best wishes to the family.

I was so sad to learn about the passing of Steve Bennett.  I remember when 911 occurred, Steve was one of the partners that did not mind praying with us.  He had a sincere heart and a great sense of humor.  I will keep his wife and daughters in prayer.  R.I.P. Steve Bennett.

Steve was a great guy and wonderful friend. I knew him in college as a smart, funny, runner that loved traveling and learning. He had a great sense of humor. I remember working on a kibbutz in Israel and him harvesting bananas, far from his choice of a legal career. He was thoughtful and kind and will be dearly missed.

I worked with Steve at Jones Day on a case that paired our New York and Columbus offices.  He was a very sharp and thoughtful attorney, but, more than that, he was kind, decent, and funny.  He will be missed by his former colleagues and friends.

I worked with Steve a lot for a couple of years on one case 15 years ago.  You may remember the Tractebel case.  I am an attorney with Jones Day's client on the case.  He was an incredible attorney and a wonderful person.  I enjoyed getting to know and work with Steve more than I can express.  I am deeply saddened by his sudden passing and so sorry for your family's loss.

My heartfelt sorrow.  Steve and I worked together years ago.  He was a thoughtful lawyer and a great, gentle man.  He raised the game of everyone around him.  I'm shocked to hear of his passing.
