Susan Mary Berry Roazzi was born February 18, 1952, in Woodside, New York, to Margaret (Peggy) and Walter Berry. She grew up in a large Irish Catholic family, and her favorite childhood memories were of the summers she spent in Huntington, visiting Ireland with her grandmother, Bessie a/k/a Nana, and listening to The Beatles with her high school friends at Dominican Commercial. A self-professed "Paul girl", she had a soft spot for George Harrison as well, and had a chance encounter with him at a sit-in, where they discussed music in NYC. Susan also had occasion to meet Paul McCartney twice, and was sure to profess her love to him..."of his music"....
Susan was a loving Mom, Wife, Grandma (Gomie), Aunt, Sister, Cousin and Friend, and above all, a devout Catholic. Susan was voted Most Likely to Be a Model at her high school graduation, and until her last day on Earth, everyone she encountered commented on her beauty and long hair. She was a prayer warrior for all, and an avid fan of big hats, Oil of Olay, Perrier, eggplant parmigiana, chocolate, cookies, pancakes, cornbread, and vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, whipped cream and sprinkles (no nuts).
Susan fiercely loved her children and grandchildren, and did everything in her power to give them every opportunity possible in this world. She taught her children to never settle for mediocrity and to reach for the stars in everything they did. Susan led by example in her service to others, whether by volunteering at her children's schools, serving as a Eucharistic Minister at church, cooking dinners for the homeless, or counseling people in need on crisis hotlines.
Susan unfortunately left this world too soon, after contracting pneumonia, secondary to LBD (Lewy body dementia), which she unknowingly battled for years. She never gave up throughout her battle, and no matter how sick she felt, she would ask how everyone else was doing, offering her prayers for them.
Susan is survived by her children, Alanna Laforet (Vincent), Gabrielle Pribula (Adam), and Mose Roazzi; grandchildren, Lillian and Vivienne Gombert, Erica Pribula and Lucille Laforet; and siblings Dennis (Susan), Donald (Una) and Elizabeth Berry. Susan was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Kevin and Walter Berry. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
