Vera Vento

With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of our beloved Vera (Cissie) Vento Jacobs on October 14, 2025 at the age of 78. Vera was born and raised in Trenton, NJ before moving to New York City. An alumnus of Duke University, New York University and Hunter College, she had a private psychotherapist practice until her retirement in 2023. A quintessential New Yorker, Vera pursued her life-long interests in art, ballet and travel. Her love for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The New York City Ballet and her beloved New York Mets goes without saying. Vera was always an endless support for her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband Dr. Eugene Leslie Jacobs. She is survived by her sister Carol (Joe) Tallone, her brother Noel (Linda) Vento, her niece Dina (Joe) Maher, nephews Joseph Tallone, Nicholas (Amy) Vento, Daniel Vento and great nieces and nephews Francesca, Lucas, Izzy, Elle, Nico and Owen. Her stepdaughters Hilary Jacobs Hendel and Amanda Jacobs Wolf, four step grandchildren Samantha, Brackets, Peyton and Charlotte. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 18th 1:30 pm at Riverside Memorial Chapel, Amsterdam Avenue at 76th St. There will also be a zoom link for those who are unable to attend. Memorial donations may be made to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City Ballet, The Jewish Foundation For The Righteous, Duke University Alumni and Central Park Conservancy.
