Angel Reyes Maalat Jr. was born on May 11, 1955, the eldest son to Angel Maalat Sr. and Elena Reyes in Caloocan City, Philippines. Eldest brother to Gerry, Felipe, Violeta, Adalia, Daisy, and Fermina. His hometown recognized him as the best Basketball player in the city. During his high school days, he was not only the best player on the Basketball team, he was also the best swimmer in his class. He graduated college in the early 1980’s from the Philippine College of Criminology, he served as an officer and was later selected as part of the narcotics division. After much success in his field, he was selected as part of Special Weapons And Tactics where he served bravely for many years. While he was just an officer, he showed his entrepreneurial spirit as he opened many businesses, including an imported goods store and several hot dogs stands on 9th Avenue in Caloocan City. He was very successful in his businesses, as he owned two cars at the time, he was the proud owner of a white Mercedes Benz and a yellow Samurai Owner Jeepney. When he retired from his service as an officer, for several years he was a world traveler. Traveling to all the major cities in the United States, countries in Europe, as well as Asia. He then moved to Los Angeles, California USA to settle down. He worked in security before marrying Raquel Valeriano and her two sons, Adrian and Aldous. They then had two more children, Arielle and Angelo. He became a gracious grandfather to Angelina, Audrina, Aria, and Amara. He switched professions from security to medical records designee for 3 years while he studied to become a nurse. He then practiced nursing for 26 years, continuing to help save lives. Then, on October 31, 2018 he was diagnosed with liver cancer. He underwent surgery to remove half of his liver, he won his battle with cancer for one year. Then, on February 2020, his oncologist discovered his cancer had returned. This time it was worse and had metastasized to his lower diaphragm. He fought hard, and with the love from his wife Raquel they fought together for 11 months, he strived to survive once again. Until December 04, 2020, his family came to his bedside to say goodbye one last time, to a loving father, loyal friend, and devoted husband.
