Benigno-died November 27th, 2019 at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital,
Newhall, CA due to Heart failure. He was born December 21st, 1925 in New York City. Caesar graduated from Washington Irving Evening High School in 1942 shortly after, he enlisted to live out his dream of becoming an Army Air Corp Pilot. During his distinguished career with the US Army Air Corps, later to be called the US Air Force, Caesar trained on the B17 Flying Fortress Bomber as a Ball Turret Gunner and as a Radar Jammer more commonly known as an Electronics Warfare Specialist. Eventually with his WWII experience, Caesar was asked to head up a training class specializing in Escape and Invasion.
He was the recipient of many prestigious awards including the French Legion of Honor, US Presidential Unit Citation Award, WWII Victory Medal, National Defense Medal, European Theatre of Operations Medal with three campaign stars. With his steadfast commitment to succeed, and dedication and passion to the service, he grew quickly in the ranks. Climbing from Master Sargent to Colonel.
After the war, Caesar continued his work in the Air Force as a reservist but because of his vast knowledge in Intelligence he was able to obtain a variety of jobs in the Defense Industry. Caesar had passion for life loving dancing, cooking, traveling, storytelling, music, old movies, women and politics.
He was predeceased by brother Samuel Benigno, sister Jenny Demarco and sister Nancy Filoramo. Survived by his four children, Frank Benigno, Dianne Benigno, Caesar Benigno Jr, and Janette Coleman. He had 6 grandchildren Stephanie, Andrew, Anthony, Kathryn, Sarah, and Sean. Followed by 5 great grandchildren Savanah, Sophia, Kira, Vivian, and Stephen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00, Wednesday December 18th at Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary, Newhall, CA followed by burial on December 19th at 2:00pm at Riverside Memorial Cemetery, Riverside, CA.
