Over the years, every now and then we would see each other and catch-up on things. It was always great to talk to Don. We got to see each other more often when we both started working at the Raytheon Pt Mugu site. He shared with me all the great things that he was experiencing with his loving family and all the cool hobby technology projects he was into. He was always so great with electronics and solving problems. I am thankful to have known and worked with Don and be one of his many friends. I am sure he is up in Heaven making it a better place.

My condolences to the Luke Family. Don was my co-worker at Hughes Aircraft/Raytheon. I met Don on the manufacturing  area where we produced radar modules for the F-18, F-15 and F-14 aircraft. Don was very welcoming, friendly, and very helpful to everyone. We kind of hit it off when talked about how to solve some of problems with some of the circuit assemblies. I did a lot of the talking and Don did a lot of the solving. That was where Don was his best. He was a great problem solver and had great knowledge of electrical circuit technology. When the ALR-67 upgrade program started in the early 1990s and Don joined our receiver development team it was great. Don and I got to work with some of best engineers at Hughes Aircraft. Don and I talked about our young families and how lucky we were to have them. We talked about a lot things and a lot about the Lakers. Don was a great friend. At work, there were many challenges, problems and long hours and Don was fantastic. The receiver we were developing was quite complex. In the early days of development it did not work right a lot of the time, but when it did, it was awesome. Don and I loved this type of work. We got to work together for about 10 years on the ALR-67 program and Don became an expert on the receiver and helped the Navy/Raytheon systems engineering team complete the development of the ALR-67(V)3. The program moved to Goleta CA and Don and I worked on the team that got the receiver production line going with a great team of engineers in Forrest MS. Programs that were down in El Segundo CA needed Don’s help and leadership and Don went back to work in El Segundo and I stayed in Goleta. (to be continued in another post) - Gil Gutierrez

Having Don as part of the Mugu family has been a pleasure. Don was always there with a smile and a kind word. He could always put a smile on my face and make me laugh. I loved hearing the joy in his voice as he told me stories about his best friend Bill.   He will be missed but never forgotten.   Sending the Luke family my deepest condolences.  

I met Don when I 1st came back to Radar Systems. He had an office in R1.  It was May of '02. He was moving to R23 which I knew nothing about until I started prep work on Global Hawk. I spent many of day in that lab and Don was an integral part of that lab. Don and I are close in age and when I left Raytheon in '14 I guess I never went over there to say thanks for all the help.

My condolences to the Luke family. I had the privilege of working with Don for 15 years. We had some fun times in R23. Such a great group.
He was kind hearted and boy would he light up when he shared stories about his grandchildren.
He will so be missed but when ever I think of Tito’s Tacos I will have to chuckle. Don loved his Tito’s Tuesday Lunch.

Condolences to the family, I worked with Don for many years, met him when we were in are 20’s Hughes in building R15, then I hadn’t seen him for years and end up at back in same building in are 50’s . He was always very kind. prayers for you all in this difficult time 🙏🏽
